Our Holiday Food & Book Drive

Enough Pie is excited to launch TWO drives this holiday season to help make a difference in our communities located on the Charleston Peninsula.  We are inviting YOU to help your neighbor with BOTH or one of the following drives:

Food Drive

Food insecurities are real for families and seniors throughout the year. Enough Pie’s Blessing Box located on Laurel Ave in Vivian Anderson Moultrie Park serves as a FREE and safe place for low income families and seniors to take what they need to make healthy and quick meals without impacting their budget.  Although you can donate throughout the year at any time, we are asking the community to help out your neighboring family and seniors by donating to the food drive to help replenish The Blessing Box over the holidays and seed future needs.

Items in Need: meals in can (stew, chili, soup); tuna, chicken or canned meat; canned foods (vegetables or fruit) with pop-top lids; jello, instant puddings; macaroni and cheese; pasta, whole grains; snack bars; meal kits.

Please make sure items are cleaned, don’t require refrigeration and are not expired.

Book Drive

Statistics show there is ONE book in every 100 low income households in SC compared to 13 books in every 100 middle class households. Donating a NEW book to the Holiday Book Drive will help spark the gift of an in-home library for a child.  Books that provide diverse representation in race, culture and language are encouraged. Books will be distributed the week of December 19th to low income families in neighborhoods located on the Charleston’s Peninsula with hot chocolate and fun activities, to ensure they have books under the tree on Christmas Day.

How can you help?

We are looking for community partners on the Peninsula to serve as a drop off location for the duration of the drive to help spread the word and strengthen our reach.  Each participating location will be provided with a sign and small box to collect items.  Organizations that do not serve as a drop off location may also choose to conduct their own collection to support the drive.

  • Food and Book Drive Dates: Monday, November 21 - Friday, December 16th.
  • Weekly Pick Up: An EP team member will collect donated items each week (or sooner if needed) to ensure there is no disruption to your space.
  • What You Receive: Outside of making a difference in food insecurities and the literacy rate on the Charleston Peninsula, EP will highlight your company on our website event page and tag you on social media.

See attached flyers for more details or contact Alec Maruki at creativeprojects@enoughpie.org to confirm your participation.
