ARTIST TALK: HITNES ON AUDUBON
FRIDAY, AUGUST 14 @ 6PM
Community Room @ Joseph Floyd Manor
2016 Mount Pleasant Street
All Are Welcome
ABOUT THE TALK: Italian artist Hitnes is on a three-month journey through the United States to retrace and rediscover the America that John James Audubon traversed in the making of The Birds of America. En route, Hitnes is producing public murals torn from the pages of Audubon’s sketchbook, and in SC, these murals will be in Summerville and West Ashley (Avondale). The focus of his art is the natural world, which will foster a discussion on the connection between art and science. Actively painting murals for almost 20 years, Hitnes’ work can be seen in Australia, China, New York, and across Europe.
ABOUT THE LOCATION: The Joseph Floyd Manor is a retirement home in the Upper Peninsula run by the Charleston County Housing and Redevelopment Authority. The building is located at the northwest corner of Mt. Pleasant St. and King St, and there is parking in the front and sides of the building. The 12-story building is now also home to the Charleston’s new OHM RADIO (96.3).
Join us for this artist talk - it is a free event open to the public.
Many thanks to our partners, the Charleston County Housing and Redevelopment Authority and the Charleston Audubon Society.
