An Awakening In Review
We are still in awe of Awakening.
1000+ attendees braved the heat and humidity to enjoy 17 different installations, interactive pieces and performances from a group of 33 artists.
There were boats and birdcages. A staircase of keys to your creativity. Hanging teacups, neon zebras, mad libs, yarnbombing and more. Artists asked: Where are you going? Where have you been? What is beauty?
Were you brave enough to eat the cake? Did you catch John Duckworth’s meditative video, or Martha Brim’s Kayne-inspired dance?
If you were unable to attend Awakening or just want to relive your experience, head over to the Enough Pie Facebook page for more photos, or check out this video by Casey Toth of The Post and Courier.
Awakening was about far more than breathing life into a vacant building. Awakening was more than just an event. Awakening shouldn’t just be quantified by the number of participating artists, installations, performances, volunteers or attendees. Beyond the bricks and mortar framework of 1600 Meeting is a community of artists, small businesses and citizen placemakers that are already awake and ready to go. We at Enough Pie have been inspired by the transformative power of the arts to unite, collaborate and build community – together.
So keep an eye on us. Over the coming weeks we will be sharing the results from a few of the interactive pieces and getting to work on an amazing year.
