Season One of Enough Pie’s popular Tales from The Manor radio show is being released as a book on Thursday, February 27th, 2020. Join the guests and co-hosts to hear the tales behind Tales.  This will be the first opportunity to purchase this one-of-a-kind book directly from the creators and collaborators.

The show features interviews with residents of the Joseph Floyd Manor, a 12-story home for low-income elderly and disabled citizens run by Charleston County Housing & Redevelopment Authority. Each episode features a resident who shares their life story, including their history of Charleston and the challenges and triumphs of the Upper Peninsula then and now. More than 5,000 listeners have enjoyed the radio show and podcast, and the goal of the book is to get these important stories out even wider. The book will feature the complete interviews from each show (10 episodes), photographs of the residents by local photographer Vintage Noir, and opening and closing chapters from the show’s hosts, Summer Anderson and Jae Smith and Enough Pie’s project lead Bennett Jones.

“What I come away from these rich narratives feeling is a sense of being ‘reconnected’ to memories of a past that I did not remember. For that I am grateful. I commend the residents and staff at Joseph Floyd Manor for reminding us about who we are and how our city lives in their memory.” says Dr. Ade Ofunniyin of The Gullah Society, who wrote the preface to the book.
