Butterfly Book Nook

The Butterfly Book Nook was founded in memory of Cynthia Graham Hurd who loved to garden and read outdoors. Established in 2017, the design and installation was a
collaboration with First African Evangelical Church, Dart Library, Enough Pie, landscape architects Holly & J. R. Kramer, and botanist Celie Dailey.

An illustration of the variety of plant species one can find in the Butterfly Book Nook. Designed by William Scott, Community Build 1:1 Fellow from Clemson University, School of Architecture Master’s Program

The Butterfly Book Nook is located at 1020 King Street and the garden is open 7 days a week from dawn to dusk, and folks are welcome to use the space, collect seeds, and assist with clean up at any time. Learn more about the origins of the Butterfly Book Nook.
