Enough Pie's Launch in Review
WOW + THANK YOU. We are overwhelmed with excitement after the successful launch of Enough Pie last night and the inspiring presentation by Mike Lydon. Tactical Urbanism combined with Creative Placemaking has launched a thousand ideas.
Our attendance was over DOUBLE the number we had anticipated. Almost 150 people!! Stage Presence Event Rentals warehouse was the perfect location – we just kept pulling out more chairs! Thank you Anthony and Greg!
The audience was engaged throughout Mike’s lecture and the positive energy was palpable. Examples of Tactical Urbanism concepts from across the country really opened our eyes to the possibilities on the upper peninsula. I think we should have planned a late night “Build a Better Block” event right after the lecture because people were at the ready!
At the heart of all of this is COLLABORATION. Last night we had leaders from Lowcountry Local First, Charleston Regional Alliance for the Arts, The Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art, Urban Land Institute SC, The Sustainability Institute, City of Charleston, Parliament, CNU Carolinas, Charleston Moves and more. Enough Pie really has the opportunity to be the connective tissue between all of these movements as they converge on the upper peninsula.
We don’t want to lose this momentum – so we are going to act quickly and hit the ground running. A friend emailed this morning and said we may have created a monster!! I think so – a really nice Godzilla!
Stay tuned. More pie coming.
