6:30-8pm: Mayoral Forum on Race Equity
Enough Pie, South Carolina Association for Community Economic Development, and YWCA of Greater Charleston are coming together to host a Mayoral Forum on Race Equity. This community-led forum, supported by a list of endorsing organizations, will address race equity in Charleston, including themes of criminal justice reform and accountable policing, economic opportunity, education, gentrification, and transportation. The event is free and open to the public.
Tessa Spencer Adams, co-anchor of ABC News 4’s Good Morning Charleston and Lowcountry Live, will moderate the forum. All mayoral candidates have signed on to participate, and various community leaders will ask the questions. The Charleston County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will also be at the event to register voters, create voters IDs and provide general voter education to attendees.
The forum will take place in the Burke High School Auditorium, located at 244 President Street, from 6:30-8 p.m. Voter registration will run from 5-9pm in the cafeteria. Attendees do not need to RSVP in advance for the event.
We hope you will join us for this opportunity to hear candid thoughts on race equity straight from the mouths of Charleston’s mayoral candidates.
